Dr. Joseph S. Bird Jr., known to patients as Dr. Joey Bird, is a reproductive endocrinologist at Fertility Center in Chattanooga, Tennessee, a practice that also has an office in Knoxville. He attended East Tennessee State University's James H. Quillen College of Medicine, where he originally planned to become a retinal surgeon; a rotation with a reproductive endocrinologist changed his direction, as he was drawn to the patients and to being part of their stories. He finds every fertility case rewarding in its own way and encourages patients to hold on to hope throughout treatment. He now practices alongside his son, Dr. Joseph S. Bird III, who joined the practice after residency.
