About
Piedmont Reproductive Endocrinology Group (PREG) was established in Greenville, South Carolina, in 2003 by reproductive endocrinologist John E. Nichols, MD, who founded the practice as its medical and laboratory director after several years in academic and hospital medicine. It has since grown into an independent network of six fertility clinics across South Carolina and western North Carolina.
The Greenville office at 17 Caledon Court, Suite C, is the group's original home and one of three PREG sites with a full IVF laboratory, alongside Columbia and Summerville — the group says having three labs lets most patients complete their care and procedures at a single location. The practice is accredited by CAP and AAAASF and reports outcomes to SART, and many of its physicians hold clinical teaching appointments.
Treatment options include fertility testing, IUI, IVF, preimplantation genetic testing, fertility preservation and oncofertility for cancer patients, and third-party reproduction with donor eggs, donor sperm and gestational carriers. PREG runs its own egg donor program, offers free second opinions, and welcomes LGBTQIA+ patients and single parents.
