About
Bluegrass Fertility Center is an independent fertility practice in Lexington, Kentucky, founded in 2003 by reproductive endocrinologist Dr. James W. Akin. A Kentucky native trained at the University of Kentucky and the Medical College of Georgia, Dr. Akin had practiced in Lexington since 1994 and continues to serve as the center's medical director.
The clinic is located at 1760 Nicholasville Road, Suite 501, on the Central Baptist Hospital campus. It offers a full infertility workup, including ovulation induction, HSG and sonohysterography, and andrology testing, alongside intrauterine insemination and IVF with ICSI, assisted hatching and preimplantation genetic testing.
For patients who need third-party or preservation options, the center runs a donor egg program, provides donor sperm insemination, and freezes eggs, sperm and embryos. Surgical sperm retrieval (TESE/TESA) is available for male-factor cases, and the practice also performs tubal reversal surgery.
