About

Virginia Fertility & IVF is a fertility practice in Charlottesville, Virginia whose roots go back to the University of Virginia Health System, where Dr. Bruce Bateman started an IVF program in 1986. In October 2005 the program's physicians, nurses and lab staff moved to Martha Jefferson Hospital, and in October 2006 Dr. Christopher D. Williams set it up as an independent private practice. In 2023 it joined Ivy Fertility, a U.S. network of fertility clinics, and it now calls itself "An Ivy Center."

The clinic is at 4100 Olympia Circle, Suite 201, in a 10,000-square-foot facility off Interstate 64 and Route 250, a few minutes from downtown Charlottesville. Three reproductive endocrinologists practice here alongside nurse practitioners, and an on-site embryology lab is accredited by the College of American Pathologists.

Services include fertility evaluation, IUI, IVF and a "Gentle IVF" protocol that uses fewer injections, along with embryo genetic testing, egg freezing, male infertility evaluation and recurrent miscarriage care. The clinic also handles donor egg cycles (through partner egg banks or known donors), IVF for gestational surrogacy, and LGBTQ+ family building.
