Tripler Army Medical Center IVF Institute

The Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility (REI) Center at Tripler Army Medical Center is the military fertility program serving the Hawaii region. It sits within the hospital's Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and is one of a small number of military treatment facilities that offer assisted reproductive technology to TRICARE beneficiaries.

The clinic is located on the fourth floor, Mountainside, of the Tripler hospital on Jarrett White Road in Honolulu. Patients are referred through their military primary care manager; referral categories include infertility, recurrent miscarriage, prior IVF failure elsewhere, new cancer diagnoses and same-sex couples. Andrology and embryology work is handled by a partner laboratory.

Services include fertility evaluation, ovulation induction and intrauterine insemination, IVF with ICSI, embryo genetic testing and sperm freezing. TRICARE generally does not cover these treatments, but Tripler offers them at reduced cost, and qualifying service members with service-related injuries may receive care through a supplemental program. IVF is scheduled in batches several times a year, and wait lists are common.
