About
Pacific In Vitro Fertilization Institute opened in 1985 as Hawaii's first IVF clinic, and the state's first IVF baby was conceived there that same year. Founding physician Dr. Thomas S. Kosasa, professor emeritus and former chief of reproductive endocrinology at the University of Hawaii John A. Burns School of Medicine, remains medical director, with Dr. Celia Dominguez as co-director.
The independent practice is based in Suite 980 of the Kapi'olani Medical Center building on Punahou Street in Honolulu. Its on-site embryology laboratory is directed by Dr. Thomas Huang, a PhD embryologist and board-certified high-complexity laboratory director, and the clinic is open seven days a week.
Services include IVF with ICSI, preimplantation genetic testing, EmbryoScope time-lapse embryo culture, egg, embryo and sperm freezing, fertility preservation before cancer treatment, and donor egg and donor sperm cycles. The clinic supports LGBTQ family building through reciprocal IVF and gestational carrier cycles, and offers remote monitoring for neighbor-island and overseas patients.
