About

The Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility (REI) division of Penn State Health is the fertility program of Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, the academic medical center affiliated with Penn State College of Medicine. It describes itself as the only university-based REI practice in central Pennsylvania, and its physicians also teach and conduct research.

The Hershey practice sees patients at 35 Hope Drive, Suite 202, on the medical center campus. Penn State Health also offers fertility visits at Leader Heights in York County and, since 2026, at Lime Spring Outpatient Center in Lancaster, with telehealth available across Pennsylvania. The division currently has five specialists, led by division chief Samantha Butts, MD.

Available treatments include IVF with ICSI and assisted hatching, embryo freezing, donor egg cycles, and insemination. An andrology service handles semen analysis and sperm freezing. The team also offers fertility preservation, including egg, embryo and sperm freezing, and minimally invasive and robotic surgery for fibroids, endometriosis and uterine septum. Interpreter services are available in more than a dozen languages, including Chinese.
