About

The Genetics & IVF Institute was founded in 1984 in Fairfax, Virginia, by Dr. Joseph D. Schulman, who had studied early IVF techniques in England. It was one of the first U.S. centers to combine infertility treatment with genetic services. The institute's cryopreservation work later gave rise to Fairfax Cryobank (1986) and Fairfax EggBank (2010). The fertility clinic now operates as GIVF Fertility and describes itself as independently operated.

The clinic is at 3015 Williams Drive, Suite 300, in Fairfax, where its embryology team handles egg, sperm and embryo cryopreservation.

Services include fertility testing, IUI, IVF, PGT (including PGT for sex selection), egg freezing, embryo cryopreservation, fertility preservation for cancer patients, fresh and frozen donor-egg IVF, a surrogacy program, LGBTQ+ family building and male factor infertility care. The clinic offers support for out-of-town and international patients, and its staff includes speakers of Chinese, Russian, Greek and Korean. Through its partner GIVF International, it also works with the Shanghai JI AI Genetics & IVF Institute to refer patients from China and other Asian countries.
