About
The Center for Infertility and Reproductive Surgery (CIRS) is the fertility program of Brigham and Women's Hospital, a Harvard-affiliated teaching hospital and founding member of the Mass General Brigham health system. The program traces its roots to the hospital's predecessor, the Free Hospital for Women, where researchers reported fertilizing a human egg in a test tube in 1944.
The main clinic is on the Brigham's Longwood Medical Area campus at 75 Francis Street in Boston, with satellite offices in Braintree and Foxborough. The center runs its own embryology laboratory with embryo freezing on site.
Services include IVF with ICSI, preimplantation genetic testing, egg, embryo, sperm and ovarian tissue freezing for fertility preservation, donor egg and donor sperm treatment, and IVF for gestational carrier arrangements. The team also performs minimally invasive and robot-assisted reproductive surgery for fibroids, endometriosis, uterine abnormalities and tubal reversal, and evaluates recurrent pregnancy loss. LGBTQ family building, including reciprocal IVF, is offered, male partners are seen through Mass General Brigham urology, and patients traveling from abroad are supported by the system's International Patient Services.
