About
The Center for Advanced Reproductive Care is the fertility and IVF program of University of Iowa Health Care, the academic medical center of the University of Iowa. It was established in 1987 as the first in vitro fertilization program in Iowa and later set up the state's first donor embryo program. In July 2021 the center recorded its 10,000th IVF procedure.
The main program is based at University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics in Iowa City, where its andrology and embryology laboratories operate on North Dodge Street. Care is also offered at satellite clinics, including the Center for Reproductive Care in Urbandale (2901 86th Street) serving the Des Moines area, and in Davenport. The physician team consists of university reproductive endocrinologists who also teach and conduct research.
Services cover fertility testing for women and men, intrauterine insemination, IVF with an emphasis on single embryo transfer, preimplantation genetic testing with genetic counseling, egg, sperm and embryo freezing for fertility preservation, donor embryos and a gestational carrier program. The center also welcomes LGBTQ individuals and couples building families.
