About
University Reproductive Associates (URA) began as an academic program. In 1985 Gerson Weiss, MD, opened the Center for Fertility and Reproductive Medicine at New Jersey Medical School, now part of Rutgers. The practice moved to Hasbrouck Heights in 1996 while affiliated with Hackensack University Medical Center, and took the name URA in 2003. Many of its physicians also teach at Rutgers, and the practice is a main clinical training site for the Rutgers reproductive endocrinology fellowship.
The main office is at 214 Terrace Avenue in Hasbrouck Heights. Over time the practice added offices in Hoboken (2009) and Wayne (2015). It acquired the Diamond Institute for Infertility and Menopause in 2023 and now also sees patients in Millburn, Denville and Goshen, NY. Its IVF laboratory uses LifeAire air filtration.
Services include IUI, IVF, preimplantation genetic testing, egg freezing and fertility preservation. Third-party options include an in-house egg donor program, donor sperm, embryo donation and gestational surrogacy. The practice also treats recurrent pregnancy loss, PCOS and endometriosis, and offers family planning for LGBT patients.
