About
The Johns Hopkins Fertility Center is the clinical arm of the Division of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility in the Johns Hopkins Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics. Its roots go back to 1939, when Dr. Georgeanna Seegar Jones established reproductive endocrinology as a division at Hopkins; formal subspecialty training followed in 1973, and assisted reproduction was offered by the mid-1980s.
Since spring 2023 the center has been based at Green Spring Station in Lutherville, north of Baltimore, in Pavilion I. The purpose-built space includes a procedure suite for egg retrievals and embryo transfers alongside co-located IVF laboratories, so the clinical and lab work happens under one roof.
Services cover fertility evaluation, IUI, IVF, preimplantation genetic testing, egg and embryo freezing, donor egg treatment with an in-house egg donor program, and coordination for gestational carrier cycles. A dedicated fertility preservation and restoration program serves cancer patients and others, including sperm freezing and ovarian tissue freezing, and works with the Hopkins Center for Transgender Health. Family-building pathways are also offered to LGBTQ+ couples and single individuals.
